Brooklyn is the place we call home, the backdrop of our love story, and the hub that’s brought us and our loved ones together. If you find yourself with some downtime over the weekend, we’ve mapped out a few of our favorite spots to explore. Each one holds a special place in our hearts, and we hope they’ll become part of your Brooklyn adventure too.
Kick off your day in Greenpoint, where Cam (and the boys) once held down the fort. While the neighborhood’s changed a bit, it still has its charm. One of our favorite ways to start the morning is at Radio Bakery Their everything bagel focaccia and daily pastry specials are worth every bite. Pro Tip: arrive early and pack some patience—the line can get long, but it’s worth the wait.
If the line feels daunting, swing by Blue Light Speak Cheesy a couple of blocks away and grab a bite before heading to Transmitter Park. Sit on a bench, take in the Manhattan skyline, and enjoy the moment. Visiting later in the day? Stop by Paulie Gee's for a slice or settle at Pencil Factory for some great people-watching alfresco.
East Williamsburg is another favorite of ours. Take a stroll through McGolrick Park where you can check out the farmers market on weekends or just lounge under the trees with a blanket. Nearby, you’ll find Little Dokebi across the street for Korean Wings. where we always go for Korean wings and Panjeon (indoor or outdoor seating). Afterward, treat yourself to a chocolate-and-vanilla swirl at the quirky, hippie-vibed Screen Door—and pick up a tie-dye tee while you’re there.
Head toward the water and explore Domino Park. Walk along the boardwalk, watch pups at the dog park, or enjoy the neon sprinklers. Need a drink? Grab a “squirrel” at Other Half Brewery or grab pizza and salad at Roberta’s. If shopping’s on your mind, Bedford Avenue and North 6th Street are perfect for everything from funky shops to well-known brands.
If all that walking works up an appetite (it will, trust us), you have to try the soup dumplings at Kings County Imperial. They’re part of our DNA at this point and are a must. Fun Fact: this is where we had our very first date!
If you venture into Manhattan, the Upper East Side awaits. Spend the afternoon at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, then refuel with burgers and Bloody Marys at JG Melon. This spot holds a special place as Blake’s old stomping grounds, and they serve arguably the best burger and cottage fries in the city. Grab a seat at the bar, admire the kitschy melon décor and charming green checkered tablecloths, and chat with Neil or Tommy, the friendly bartenders.
